The logistics decision is done. Did it actually improve contribution?

Compare a decision's estimated benefit with actual freight, sales and returns after execution.

Illustration for an article about The logistics decision is done. Did it actually improve contribution?

A team expedited stock and avoided some cancellations. A month later it faces a harder question: did the choice improve the result or merely shift costs? A polished recommendation alone cannot answer it.

A practical sequence

  1. Save the original scenario: date, affected SKUs, baseline, assumptions, expected effect and approver.

  2. After execution, attach observed events: actual arrival, freight invoice, sales, returns and deductions over the same period.

  3. Compare estimate and observed result on a consistent time and monetary basis. Mark promotions, price changes and other factors that may have affected sales.

  4. Record which inputs and assumptions were wrong. This improves the next comparison even when savings cannot be proven.

A worked example

The plan expected to protect 50 sales; 30 units were expedited and freight cost more than quoted. The gap between two forecasts is not automatically “money saved”: nobody knows exactly how many sales would have occurred without the action.

What to verify

ProfitVena can reconcile recognized financial facts. With authorized integration, Yasnora retains scenario and work context. Avoided losses are counterfactual estimates, not observed revenue.

Save a baseline before the next action, then review the documented outcome in ProfitVena.
